Last month I talked about home inspections (invasions) which have started in Ontario. The Canadian Shooting Sports Association has posted their advice on their website on what to do if this happens to you: www.cdnshootingsports.org/2007/11/CFO_Inspection_Instructions.pdf
Although this is not happening here in Saskatchewan, Im telling you this so we are prepared! Check out the web site, if they continue to push this I will send out a paper copy in the month end for those that dont have computer access.
My court case for my short barreled handgun is scheduled for the afternoon of May 12th and 13th. There are 3 of us here in Swift Current in court and they have not decided if we are going together or separate and who goes 1st. I will advise when I know more for those that were wanting to attend.
It is my opinion that the amnesty for unregistered firearms that is in effect till May of this year will be extended and in all likelihood so will the no fee policy to renew your license. I will confirm this for you as soon as I know.
We are still working on the SIAST issue, which, for those who dont know, is the proposed delivery of the Federal course by SIAST. We are very concerned about this as we feel it will drive the price up for our kids to prices they cannot afford. We have written Brad Walls office and have requested a meeting. It is our opinion that as the province opted out of this legislation and SIAST is a provincial government body, policy would dictate that they not even consider this. Again I will keep you informed.
