The legislature has reconvened and the Conservatives have started work on a standalone bill to scrap the long gun registry. Unfortunately we have few details at this point so I have nothing I can add except they have started the process. I assume by the end of next month things will be starting to happen.

We did meet with Saskatchewan Justice in early August. We are asking them to support us on our ongoing battle. Specifically we have asked if they will attend the committee hearings that will be held as the Conservatives move ahead with the legislation to end the long gun registry. We are also asking for their support to de-criminalize licensing, remove the legislation that calls for the destruction of all firearms held by government agencies so we can continue to get the guns from SE as we had in the past. We are also asking for support on removing the gun show regulations, cleaning up the Authorization to Transport (ATT) and gun range regulations.

The US Government is considering legislation that will require any state that allows concealed carry permits to honor the other states' permits. This will effectively allow concealed carry in all states but Washington and Illinois who presently do not allow concealed carry.

On the international front, the Conservatives have asked that hunting/sporting firearms be exempted from the new proposed UN Arms Treaty. Specifically they have asked for a clause, "Reaffirming that small arms have certain legitimate civilian uses, including sporting, hunting and collecting purposes". Kudu's to the Conservatives for this position!
